HVR High Voltage, Non Inductive, Ceramic Carbon Linear
Resistors are manufactured (to ISO 9001-2000 Standards) from a carefully
blended mixture of clays, alumina and carbon. |
|
After mixing and granulating, the material is
pressed to the required shape, with diameters ranging from 3 to 152mm. |
|
The resistors are
then fired, at very high temperatures, in a tunnel kiln with a controlled
reducing atmosphere. This produces a Bulk Ceramic Carbon Resistor which is
100% Active Material, and therefore of Minimum Size. |
|
Typically aluminium is then flame sprayed onto the
flat surfaces of the Ceramic Resistor to provide reliable
electrical contact and an anti-track coating is applied to the
edges to improve dielectric withstand. |
|
The Ceramic Carbon Resistor Technology enables the
manufacture of a Wide Variety of Geometries in a Wide Resistivity Range,
with constant mechanical strength. They are Robust, good in compression and
capable of absorbing transmitted mechanical shock, provided direct impact is
avoided. |

Product
Testing
Testing and Product Development is
undertaken in either of the Materials, Applications or High Voltage
Laboratories. The latter is equipped with a 2 Stage Marx Generator
capable of delivering 100 kV. |
|
Quality
Policy
|
|
With respect to the current range of
products, HVR's Manufacturing Systems are ISO 9001-2000 approved by
the Ceramic Industry Certification Scheme Ltd. |
|
|
|
|
Throughout the process, detailed mandatory quality control
procedures are adhered to, culminating in the 100% High Voltage
Performance Testing of all Heavy Duty Switchgear Resistor Discs. |
|
Further Laboratory High Voltage
Performance Testing & Analysis is undertaken by Applications
Technicians and verified by Applications Engineers,
before product release is granted. |
